Ece Burgaz

Born in 1980 in Istanbul.

Graduated from the Department of Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Marmara University, in 2006.

​

Materials and Types of Work:

​

She primarily works with gouache, watercolor, and pastel on paper. Additionally, she creates digital artwork, cartoons, and mini animations. Until 2019, she contributed a monthly column to Bayan Yanı Dergisi, part of the "Leman" magazine family. She has also sudied engraving, ceramics, and marbling arts.

Exhibitions and Activities:

• 2022: Won the international selection for the "OEOE" group exhibition organized by the Tinimini Room art gallery in the Netherlands, and her works were displayed there.

• 2019 - 2014: Contributed a monthly column for Bayan Yanı Dergisi, part of the Leman Dergisi family. Prior to this, her early cartoons and first comic stories were published in Leman and L-Manyak.

• 2018: Took ceramic lessons in a ceramic workshop in Çanakkale.

• 2017: Organized a cartoon workshop for children at the Değişim Association in Gelibolu.

• 2014 - 2009: While continuing her artistic production, she paused her involvement in the contemporary art market and completely stopped her video art works. She continued painting and began drawing cartoons. During this time, she also took marbling lessons at a marbling workshop in Kadıköy.

• 2008 - 2009: Selected as the only artist from Turkey for the European Exhibition of Young Artists organized by AICA Project (International Association of Art Critics). As a result of this selection, her video art works were exhibited in Belgium, Greece, and Spain.

• 2005 - 2007: Worked as a preparatory art instructor in Istanbul.

• 2006: Goethe-Institut, Istanbul – Participated in the group exhibition organized for the students of Prof. Tayfun Erdoğmuş from the Department of Painting at Marmara University, Faculty of Fine Arts.

• 2006: Gallery D Art Design and Design, Istanbul – Participated in the group exhibition organized for the students of Prof. Tayfun Erdoğmuş from the Department of Painting at Marmara University, Faculty of Fine Arts.

• 2006: Pera Museum, Istanbul – Participated in the graduation exhibition of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Marmara University.

• 2006: Participated in the Going Public 6 exhibition organized by Platform Garanti Contemporary Art Center and aMAzelab (Istanbul).

• 2006: Won the selection for the 4th International Student Triennale, and her works were exhibited in this triennale (Istanbul).

• 2006: Participated in the engraving workshop organized by Wolfgang Pilz (Istanbul).

• 2005: Won the selection for the "13th New Suggestions, New Proposals" exhibition organized by Borusan Art, and her video art works were included in this exhibition (Istanbul).

• 2004: Participated in the "Tactics in Language" workshop/group exhibition organized by Emre Zeytinoğlu (Istanbul).

• 2003: Participated in the "Zapping" workshop/group exhibition organized by Emre Zeytinoğlu (Istanbul).
